Andrew Blackwell led all the way to win his third Victorian Title in a row of the Modified Production sedans at Blue Ribbon Raceway on Saturday night. He is the first person to ever win a hat trick of Victorian titles.
Blackwell started off poll in the 30 lap final after consistent finishes in all his heats. Justin Drew was off outside poll after good heat results and tailed Blackwell all the way to finish 2nd. Darren Pottage had better luck in the final than the heats finishing 3rd and Graham West, in his little LJ Torana , finished 4th. Remarkably the 30 laps ran continuously without a stoppage.
Heat winners were Andrew Blackwell, Justin Drew, Darren Pottage, Justin Alberni, Anthony Wilson, Justin Drew, Terry Brown, Russell Felsovary, Matt McClure, Trevor Mills and Brian Galley.
The Modified Production Consolation final was won by Jeremy McClure from Bray Hart and Tony Schmidt.
The Three Litre / Production cars saw some great battles all night with Horsham’s Matt Gerlach and visiting driver Ross Burrows taking out the wins.
The ladies had a big field of eight and local drivers Amy Yole and Emma Hutchinson had some ding dong battles all night to share podium finishes with Hamilton’s Gidget Payne and Simpson’s Ellen Vagg.
The Street Stocks made a welcome appearance to the Horsham track and all five drivers shared placings. Luke James won 2 of the races and Richard Bansemer won the other.
The V8 Trucks also put a on a great display with Wes Bell and Luke James sharing the wins.
