A huge field of Street Stock are set to race this Saturday night at Kalkee’s Blue Ribbon Raceway with 32 drivers from across Victoria and SA nominated to race in the annual Street Stock 1000.
Drivers will race in three heat races during the night which will decided their starting positions in the feature final.
Redda is a little busy on race night. He jumps from his V8 Truck into his Street Stock EL Falcon and goes again. He started racing with Richard Bansemer in a TE Cortina as a junior at age 17, and obviously loves racing because he has now raced for half his life!
Jamie, the Rev-headed nerd. The maverick, who has something different out on the track. Most people race Commodores and Falcons, but Jamie wanted to have something a little different.
Jamie has a Nissan Skyline racing in Street Stocks. The rule book allowed for it, so over two years he built one. He purchased a car that was partly built, but Jamie being the perfectionist he is, changed things to make sure it was the way he wanted it to be.
I wasn’t sure if I was at the right address; but as I walked further towards the workshop I could see a collection of Falcons and Commodores, either waiting their turn or had their turn on the track!
Richard and Emma currently share a VY Commodore in the Street Stock class. The Street Stock class basically means it is pretty much the same car that is driven on the road. The body is stripped bare, and all safety cages and equipment installed, but the engine and running gear is ‘street stock.’
