THE smell of petrol, the roar of engines and the sight of drivers hurling themselves around the tight dirt track were all part of the action at Horsham’s Blue Ribbon Raceway at the weekend.

The Horsham Motor Sports Club speedway was the site of a controversial Victorian Street Stock titles meet on Saturday and Sunday night.

Though the suspension and successful appeal of Horsham driver Shannon Eltze marred the event, the action was still thick and fast.

More than 1500 people visited the speedway over the two nights to take in the thrills and spills of Street stock, Speedcar, Three Litre and Limited Sportsman action.

Mt Gambier driver David Gartner won the Victorian title, adding to an Australia title he won in his home town last month.
